Life in the fast lane - learn to go slow

Having lived in the fast lane in the UK, it is really nice to be going at a slower pace of life, able to sit back and enjoy the sun and sea.  It is great to be able get up in the morning and look out of my windows to see the beautiful mountains that are surrounding Estepona.  Also when I then proceed to take my dog out for her early morning walk it is great to see the sea at the bottom of the road.

Today, we have been having visitors and went visiting so we have been a bit slower at getting things done.  However we are just enjoying the moment of knowing that we can be relaxing by the pool or walking in amongst the pine trees and along dry river beds just taking in all the beauty that surrounds us.

For us the transition to Spain was really quite painless once the decision to come had fianlly been set in the mind, then the adventure really started as we had to go to North Wales so I could get some driving practice in before driving all the way down from Santander through the flat lands of the Extremedura to arrive finally at Estepona, the sight of seeing Gibraltar at the end of the our journey was amazing - never in all my years was I so pleased to see such a landmark as I knew that my journey was nearly over.  I was tired and hungry and feeling hot as I had come over in August and it was hot.  However, I am glad I choose that time of the year as the sea crossing over from the UK was very calm and no incidents of bad weather - which was great for me, as I had not travelled down before and I really did not know what to expect.

Now we are settled in Spain and enjoying our new life.  We would hope to inspire others to make the same decision.  So if you are considering it but do not know how to proceed please do not hesitate to contact me suecaroline@hotmail.co.uk and I will gladly give you some tips on how i did it.

Now the time for learning a new skill and language and to meet with new people to discover hidden talents and depths to one character is amazing.

Estepona - Costa Del Sol

Living and working on the Costa del Sol is a dream many people have.
I have been down here now living my dream for 12 months now and am really enjoying the environment, great place to seek peace of mind and healthy lifestyle.

Recently I learned that the market trend for buying property here on the Costa Del Sol is going up.  I heard recently that especially Scandanavian people are really interested in buying on the Costa del Sol.

Here we have some terrific bargains and their locations are really incredible.

My favourite spot along the Costa Del Sol is obviously Estepona where it really is still very Spanish and is bursting with life. 

In the Summer we have been blessed with aamzing dance troups from the local dancing schools and I can say that I have never seen such beautifully executed dance routines done by young one such as these. 






This delightful town on the Costa Del Sol is only 30 minutes away from Gibraltar which makes it a really easy destination flying into Gibraltar, however it is just over 45 minutes from Malaga.
It has so much to offer in the way of independent shops and great restuarants.
For me it has been the best choice I have made.

I get the best of both worlds here, excellent walking country, with the bonus of great beaches. 
For mor details about this glorious rich in friendship and comfortable to be around this town offers a lot for those seeking to have a life filled with joy and peace and quietness. 

Here in Estepona is a treat for there is a great place that sells the tradtional Spanish Churros and hot chocolate - it is well know all around Estepona and is a treat to go in and have this lovely hot chocolate and churros for breakfast occasionally.

Earlier in the summer we were treated to a great medival market with loads of interesting stalls.  This is made up of many nations who come to share their wares and also add atmostphere to the event.  I really enjoyed my morning browsing and speaking to stall holders.

For me, the promonade is beautiful and is unspoilt, there are still wild areas along the beach which are a treasure trove of interesting shells, and fishermen.

There are also lovely walks along dry riverbeds which lead into the mountains.  Along some you can come to pools of clear cool water - which is great when you have just spent nearly an hour crossing over the rocks and up the riverbeds and through the trees.  It is great when you can get to a spot and just stop and look around you and hear the stillness and quietness - with only the sound of the birds and the running waters.  I really enjoy those moments and love to share them with my friends.  My four footed companion really enjoys her long walks in the country and finds it really exciting as a Jack Russell it is heaven.
